Modes of Transport
Transport within Singapore is mainly land-based. Many parts of Singapore are accessible by road, including islands such as Sentosa and Jurong Island. The other major form of transportation within Singapore is rail: the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) runs the length and width of Singapore, and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) runs within a few neighbourhoods. The main island of Singapore is connected to the other islands by ferry boat services.
MRT and LRT constitute the most efficient way to get around the main island. Our rail system moves more than 2 million passengers daily.
Buses complement the rail system and bring commuters closer to their destinations. All bus stops in Singapore provide bus route information guides to help you get to your destination faster. Several bus stops across the island are equipped with real-time bus arrival information to help commuters better manage their waiting time.
Taxis offer a choice for commuters who wish to have a personalised and door-to-door service.

Getting To NUS From Changi Airport / Buona Vista and Kent Ridge MRT Station
By Mass Rapid Transit (MRT):�
- Take the MRT from Changi Airport Station (Located at Terminal 2 and 3) to Tanah Merah Station
- Transfer to East West Line
- Board the train (East West Line Towards Joo Koon) and alight at Buona Vista Station
- Board the train towards Harbourfront Station (Circle Line) and alight at Kent Ridge Station, 2 stops later.
- At the bus-stop in front of NUH, transfer to internal shuttle bus D2 (free of charge) to University Town.
By Car / Taxi:
- Use Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). Get out at Exit 8 (North/South Buona Vista Road / National University Hospital).
- Drive along Lower Kent Ridge Road for about 1km. The University Town is located on the right. You will drive past National University Hospital and the Faculty of Dentistry building along the way.
- Note that there is no waiting or pick-up/drop-off zone along Lower Kent Ridge Road and drivers are strongly discouraged from waiting by the road.
- Directions from Changi Airport: Look for a standard taxi after exiting immigration. A Taxi to National University of Singapore should cost between 35 - 50 SGD, depending on time of arrival (there is a surcharge for travelling during rush hours and past midnight), and take approximate 35 minutes.
